Yahoo Domains? GET OUT!

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Yahoo lost all trust with me.

I’ll never use their services again, not even the free ones.

(Yep, I just cancelled my FREE email accounts with them, AND my paid small business services).

What’s this all about?

Their new domain registration prices.

I registered a domain with them for $1.99 for the first year and then $9.99 for each following year.

Now, they changed their pricing from $9.99 to $34.99.

Conveniently they did not tell their customers about this.

At least not until it was too late to do something about it.

The only customers they informed about the price change are customers who’re going to have their domains renewed within less than 60 days.

Now these customers can’t transfer their domains away from Yahoo because of a little policy they have (just like GoDaddy).

So basically, they informed you: we’re going to more than triple the prices, and if you don’t like it you can go elsewhere - but actually, no, you can’t, because of a little policy we put into our terms, so thank you very much for your money.

To me, that’s SCAMMING.

That’s not the way an honest business treats a customer.
